What it is

Aquaria Phuket is the biggest oceanarium in Thailand, occupying the entire basement level (B1) of Central Phuket Floresta mall in the Wichit district. The attraction spans 10,000 square meters and houses more than 6,000 creatures across roughly 300 species — from giant Mekong River fish and reef sharks to Humboldt penguins and giant turtles. Nine themed zones take visitors on a journey inspired by Thai mythology and Southeast Asian ecosystems: Mystic Forest (Mekong freshwater giants), Coastal Haven (penguins and otters), Ray Bay (interactive stingray feeding), the USS Lagarto WWII submarine wreck display, and the flagship South China Sea zone with the largest saltwater tank in Thailand. Live feeding shows for sharks, rays, penguins, and otters run multiple times daily, and a signature Mermaid Show — featuring performers diving without breathing gear — plays twice a day. Because it's fully indoors and air-conditioned, Aquaria Phuket is an excellent option on rainy or hot afternoons.

• Open daily from approximately 10:30 to 19:00, with last admission usually around 18:00 — hours can vary, so check the official website before visiting.
• Best time to visit is on weekday mornings shortly after opening; weekends and Thai public holidays tend to get crowded, especially around the tunnel and show areas.
• Getting there: the aquarium is inside Central Phuket Floresta mall at 199 Moo 4, Wichit, Mueang Phuket — easily reached by Grab or taxi from most beach areas. There is no dedicated shuttle from the main tourist beaches.
• The basic ticket covers all zones and daily shows; a combo ticket also includes the 3D AR Trick Eye Museum on the same floor. Re-entry is typically not permitted once you exit, so plan your visit as one continuous session.
• The facility is fully wheelchair and stroller accessible with flat pathways throughout. Photography is welcome, but tripods and flash photography are restricted in some zones to avoid stressing the animals.
