Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter

What it is

Opened in June 2023, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter spans roughly 30,000 square meters of indoor space in Nerima Ward, on the site of the former Toshimaen amusement park. Unlike a theme park, this is a self-guided walk-through studio experience focused on the filmmaking craft behind all eight Harry Potter films. Guests move at their own pace through meticulously recreated sets, original props, and costumes, learning how iconic scenes were actually made. Highlights include a full-scale Great Hall, a walk-through Diagon Alley built using the same techniques as the original movie set, the shadowy Forbidden Forest with Buckbeak, and a replica Hogwarts Express at Platform 9¾. Interactive green-screen activities, the world's largest Butterbeer bar, a Great Hall-style Food Hall, and one of the world's largest Harry Potter merchandise stores round out the experience. Timed-entry tickets are required, and most visitors spend four to six hours on site.

Highlights

• The Great Hall — a full-scale recreation of Hogwarts' iconic dining hall, complete with floating candles, long house tables, and house tapestries; the same design team that built the original movie set was involved in its construction.
• Diagon Alley — a fully realized recreation of the wizarding shopping street featuring storefronts like Ollivanders, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, Flourish and Blotts, Quality Quidditch Supplies, and the facade of Gringotts Bank.
• The Forbidden Forest — a darkened, atmospheric walk-through zone where guests encounter life-size creature figures including the proud Hippogriff Buckbeak, iconic scenes from the films recreated in full scale.
• Platform 9¾ and the Hogwarts Express — step alongside (and onto) the scarlet steam engine and iconic platform setting, one of the most photographed spots in the entire tour.
• Ministry of Magic Atrium — unique to the Tokyo location, this grand interior features towering fireplaces representing the Floo Network, allowing for memorable photo opportunities.
• World's Largest Butterbeer Bar — guests can sample the signature wizarding drink (non-alcoholic) in a dedicated bar space; the Food Hall nearby is styled to evoke the Great Hall atmosphere with long tables and floating candle decor.

Good to know

• Plan for 4–6 hours on site; the tour covers a large indoor area and there's no shortage of interactive activities, photo spots, and exhibits to linger over — rushing through in under 3 hours means missing a lot.
