Shanghai Disneyland 2026: Tickets, Metro & Where to Stay

As of October 2026, an official 1-day Shanghai Disneyland ticket costs CNY 475–799 depending on the date (≈ US$71–119 at the 10 Oct 2026 rate), the park is reached by Metro Line 11 to Disney Resort Station (Exit 1 or 4), and Korean and Japanese ordinary passports enter visa-free for 30 days until 31 Dec 2026 while US passports need a visa or qualifying 240-hour transit. Resort hotels started from about US$216 a night and Pudong city hotels from about US$51 on Klook on 10 Oct 2026.

Can I enter China visa-free for Shanghai Disneyland?

It depends on your passport, not your language: Korean and Japanese ordinary passports get 30 days visa-free until 31 December 2026, while US passport holders need a visa unless they qualify for 240-hour visa-free transit with a confirmed onward ticket to a third country.

Passport / statusEntry rule (as of October 2026)
South Korea, Japan (ordinary passport)Visa-free up to 30 days for tourism, business, family visits, exchange or transit; valid until 31 Dec 2026 (no extension notice found when checked on 10 Oct 2026)
Taiwan residents eligible for the 台胞證Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents required; Pudong and Hongqiao airports can issue a one-time permit on arrival, but getting one in advance is safer. Foreign nationals living in Taiwan follow their own passport's rules instead
United StatesNot on the 30-day visa-free list. Up to 240 hours visa-free transit only if you meet the conditions: confirmed onward travel to a third country or region, a designated entry port and the permitted stay area. A US–Shanghai–US round trip does not qualify

Before you fly

  • Arrival card online: since 20 November 2025 you can fill it in beforehand via the National Immigration Administration website, the "移民局12367" app, or WeChat/Alipay mini-programs; a paper or QR option is still available at the airport.
  • Payments: Shanghai's government says overseas visitors can link international cards to Alipay or Weixin Pay, with regulatory caps of up to US$5,000 per transaction and US$50,000 per year (your actual limit depends on the app and card issuer). Tencent announced in May 2026 that first-time users who link an international card to Weixin Pay get card fees waived for 90 days from their first payment, up to CNY 1,000 a day. Check the fee on the payment screen.
  • Bring the physical passport: Disney tickets are booked under your passport number, and you must show the same original passport at the gate.

Official 1-day tickets cost CNY 475–799 depending on the date (≈ US$71–119 at the 10 Oct 2026 rate); prices follow a multi-tier calendar set by forecast attendance and published 30 days ahead. Disney Premier Access is an optional paid extra; check which attractions it includes and that day's price, and buy it only for rides whose queues you really want to cut.

On Klook, Shanghai Disneyland tickets showed from about ₩80,000 on Klook Korea on 10 Oct 2026 (≈ US$60 at the site rate; prices vary by date and by your local Klook site). Klook also runs China-specific promotions in some markets, so check your own Klook site's current offers before paying. The refund rule above covers only standard-price tickets bought from official direct channels. For discounted tickets such as Early Bird, packages and tickets bought on Klook, check that product's cancellation terms.

Install the official app and create an account before you travel. The Shanghai Disney Resort Official App shows live wait times and daily hours, and you need to link your ticket in the app before buying Premier Access. Registration needs phone or email verification, so do it at home.

Disney Premier Access

  • A paid option for a priority lane at selected attractions or a reserved viewing area at shows, sold separately from the park ticket. A priority lane does not mean zero wait.
  • Buy per attraction or as a set; some products must be bought in advance and others after entry, so check the purchase screen.
  • Sold only through four official channels: the resort website, the official app, the official WeChat account and the official Fliggy store.
  • Prices vary by date, attraction and show, and can sell out. There is no fixed official price list.

Bag and food rules

  • Not allowed: wheeled luggage of any size, bags over 56 × 36 × 23 cm, alcohol, cans or glass (small baby-food jars excepted).
  • Outside food is fine if it needs no heating or refrigeration and has no strong smell (no durian, no instant noodles needing hot water).
  • Every bag is checked and you walk through a metal detector.

When is Shanghai Disneyland least crowded?

No weekday guarantees short queues. The price calendar reflects expected demand, not a forecast of actual wait times.

  • Avoid Chinese public holidays: National Day (early October), Spring Festival and Labour Day bring domestic family crowds. Plan by the Chinese calendar, not your own.
  • Weather: according to the Shanghai government, winters average 3–11°C but feel much colder in the humidity, while summers are hot and humid with highs often above 35°C. The plum-rain season runs from mid-June to early July and typhoon season from late August to mid-September. Dress warmly for winter night shows, prepare for heat and rain in summer, and check the forecast for your date.
  • Use the app to plan queues: it shows live wait times, parade and fireworks schedules, and the day's hours. Head for the shortest lines first.
  • Get in early: resort-hotel guests can enter up to one hour before opening from the day after check-in (a park ticket is still needed), and a 1-Day Ticket with Early Park Entry Pass gives the same head start without a hotel stay.
  • Re-entry is allowed: one ticket lets you leave and come back any number of times during that day's hours — Disneytown next door is free to enter for a midday break.
  • Don't count on last-minute queues: joining a line just before closing does not guarantee a ride; queues can close early or rides can pause. Do your must-rides in the morning.
  • Check maintenance notices: attractions close for scheduled maintenance on some days, announced on the official site.

How do I get to Shanghai Disneyland from Pudong Airport and the city?

From the city, take Metro Line 11 to Disney Resort Station and use Exit 1 or 4; from Pudong Airport (about 30 km) the resort's own estimate is 30–50 minutes by taxi or 80–90 minutes by metro.

The Maglev from Pudong Airport

  • It runs between Pudong Airport and Longyang Road station; an economy single is CNY 50 (≈ US$7.50), with 20% off a single ride if you hold a same-day air ticket, or CNY 80 return (valid seven days).
  • Good if you're heading into the city first; going straight to Disney with luggage, a taxi avoids the transfers.

Metro fares and payment

  • Fares rise with distance; check the exact fare on the day you ride.
  • Visa and Mastercard contactless cards work at the gates, as do Alipay/WeChat QR codes and the Metro Daduhui app. One-day (CNY 18) and three-day (CNY 45) passes exclude the Maglev.
  • Taxis may drop off and pick up only at the West Public Transportation Hub and designated areas such as the resort hotels; not in the Disney Car and Coach Park.

Getting home after the fireworks

  • Right after closing, Disney Resort Station and the taxi area can get crowded at the same time.
  • Check together beforehand: the last train from Disney Resort Station, the last connection to your hotel, walking and queuing time to the exit, and, for nearby hotels, the last shuttle.
  • If you're staying in the city, decide in advance whether to stay for the whole fireworks show, and leave earlier if the last train is tight. Staying near the park or at a resort hotel makes the trip home easier.

Where should I stay: near Disney or in central Shanghai?

Stay in the city (Pudong or the Bund) if Disney is one day of a wider Shanghai trip; stay near the park or at a resort hotel for two Disney days or with small children. Prices below are the "from, per night, incl. tax" figures shown on Klook Korea on 10 Oct 2026, converted at the site rate. They are not like-for-like quotes, so they can't settle which hotel is cheaper; compare total room cost plus round-trip transport, and check shuttles and first and last trains. Distances are Klook's "nearby" figures, not walking distance to the gate.

The two official resort hotels

  • Early park entry: one entry per registered guest per night, starting the day after check-in, up to one hour before the announced opening; you get it at check-in. You still need a valid park ticket, so check whether your room package includes one. A one-night stay gives you one early morning.
  • Free shuttle bus to the park from both hotels, per the official FAQ. The Shanghai Disneyland Hotel's water taxi (Wishing Star Ferry) pauses 4–30 Nov 2026 for maintenance, with a shuttle instead.
  • Luggage: check-in from 15:00, check-out by 11:00, pre-check-in from 08:00; luggage dropped near the park is delivered to your hotel.
  • Toy Story Hotel also offers early entry; compare totals for the same dates, guests and room conditions.

Near the park

For nearby hotels such as Novotel Shanghai Clover, compare the room total, return transport cost and shuttle arrangements. They don't include early entry, and shuttle service varies — confirm with the hotel before booking.

City hotels (Pudong, the Bund, Nanjing Road)

If your plans include Bund night views, Nanjing Road shopping or Xintiandi dinners, stay central. In Pudong, The Eton Hotel showed from ₩69,039 (≈ US$51) on Klook on 10 Oct 2026, and reviews often mention its metro link and river views. On your Disney day, check the Line 11 transfer and your post-fireworks journey time in a map app first.

FAQ

  • How much is a Shanghai Disneyland ticket in 2026?

An official 1-day adult ticket costs CNY 475–799 depending on the date (about US$71–119 at the 10 Oct 2026 rate). Children 3–11 and seniors 60+ pay about 25% less, and under-3s are free.

  • Do US citizens need a visa for Shanghai Disneyland?

Yes, unless they meet the 240-hour visa-free transit conditions, including confirmed onward travel to a third country or region. The US is not on China's 30-day visa-free list.

  • Is Disney Premier Access worth it?

It's optional. Check which attractions it includes and that day's price, and buy it only if you want to cut the wait for rides you don't want to miss.

  • How long does it take from Pudong Airport to Shanghai Disneyland?

About 30–50 minutes by taxi or 80–90 minutes by metro, according to the resort. The distance is roughly 30 km.

  • Do I need my passport for Shanghai Disneyland?

Yes, tickets are real-name since 23 Dec 2024, booked under your passport number. You must show the same original passport at the entrance.

  • What do Disney resort hotel guests get?

One early entry per night, up to one hour before opening, starting the day after check-in, with a separate valid park ticket. The official FAQ says both hotels run a free shuttle bus to the park.

  • Can I get a refund on Shanghai Disneyland tickets?

Since 12 Jan 2026, standard-price 1- and 2-day tickets from official direct channels (no official coupon, no prior date change) are fully refundable until 23:59 seven days before the first visit date, then CNY 80 per ticket per visit day until the day before, and not on the day. Discounted tickets, packages and Klook tickets follow that product's own terms.
